Wow. A LOT has happened this year. It's been quite the ride, with lots of faith leaping in the mix. This month I opened my very own acupuncture clinic in the Tucson Estates area, in the Saguaro National Park West region of Tucson. So far, everything is going very well, and there is a lot of interest in acupuncture here. When I found out my place of work, Common Roots, was closing up and transitioning into something new, I took the opportunity to create something of my own, and I'm so glad I took that chance. A word of advice to anyone who wishes to open a business or start something new, DO IT. Take a chance. It's better to try and fail, than to not try at all.
Taking this leap of faith is the best decision I've made in my adult life. I am so excited to see what happens. My eyes remain on the horizon. That being said, I have had to let go of some things to create more space on this new journey-- one of which is that I will be letting go of my online Wednesday night zoom classes, starting with the new year. The final class will be Wednesday, December 28th, 2022. It has been such a blessing to offer this class and to make connections with others through this platform, so I will really miss this. My YouTube channel will remain active, and I will continue to publish content, at least a couple of times per month. My Patreon page will remain active, all back content will be made public, but will not have any added benefits for higher contributions. All Patreon contributions will go towards supporting myself and the YouTube channel, Yoga with Ashley Gee. Lastly, keep your eyes and ears on alert for some really exciting new offerings and collaborations in the near future! I hope you are all doing well out there, and I wish you all a happy Holiday Season. From my heart to yours. Much Love, Ashley

Some people find it joyful, and others find it dreadful...and some people find it to be both. This year in particular is going to be very different from those in the past. It will still be a mixed bag, but for many people, it will be lonelier and more difficult than usual. I hope very much that each one of you are well, and that you are able to get through the season unscathed. Even if nothing can help make things better or brighter, I just want you to know that you are seen, and understood. May each and every one of us endure, and make it through this difficult time together. Some updates: YOGA - If you haven't heard already, my 6:30 Wednesday AM outdoor class has moved to 7AM INDOORS at YogaOasis Central. - I am still teaching Mondays 12:15PM INDOORS at YogaOasis Central. - If you're looking for an online community, I am still providing online classes and content on Patreon from $3-$15/month! Please click here to visit the website and to schedule an appointment online. - There are only 2 Saturdays of 2-for-1 special left! 11/21 and 11/28! Bring yourself and a friend who has never been before. At least one of the two of you must be a new patient. I hope you all have a safe Holiday season! Please remember to practice good hygiene, wash hands, and wear a mask when you are around people outside of your household. With Love, Ashley Gee, L.Ac. ![]() October is here! Autumn is just around the corner. When seasons begin to shift, the energy in our bodies shifts as well. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is believed that eating the appropriate foods for the season, and also the transition of seasons is important to maintain balance within the body. Right now, we are shifting out of the Fire element, into the Metal element. We are in what is known as the in-between period of seasons. Listed below are the elements associated with the seasons:
That being said, now is a great time to be eating root veggies, yellow fruits and veggies, grains, and proteins that are light (meaning not high in fat). Oils and fats should be used sparingly during this time, and food should be mostly balanced in flavor and bland (not having an abundance of flavor (sweet, sour, salty, spicy, bitter). A person's constitution is also important to assess when figuring out what foods to eat or avoid--for example, if you tend towards being colder, you could try adding a bit of ginger; if you tend towards being warmer, you can try adding some bitter flavor. Another way to do it is to listen to what your body is saying after eating. Ask questions like, "Does it make me tired? groggy? energized? bloated? gassy?" and adjust accordingly :) I hope everyone is doing okay out there! I hope to see you around soon. Take a look below at the news blurbs for Yoga and Acupuncture. Warmly, Ashley Gee, L.Ac.
A letter from Ashley: It's been quite the year, hasn't it? I can't believe it's already almost September. The world has been changing quickly, right in front of our eyes, and for many, this has been very difficult to maneuver and adapt to. When everything first shut down, I remember feeling all kinds of feelings, such as dread, fear, anxiety, sadness, loneliness, disconnectedness, uncertainty, etc... I've had many conversations with friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers of the hardships, losses, and all that has come with the year 2020. There is nothing I can say or do to make it better, but I am always willing to be a sounding board for anyone who needs one. We have had not only deaths from the virus, but also many to suicide, due to not only the state of our world, but also to the unavailability of mental health care for struggling individuals. People have lost their insurance that gave them access to necessary medications, or lost access to their mental health providers and counselors, because jobs have been lost, and financially, people are scraping by. Even if you have a job, and are financially secure, you might be overworked, overstressed, and overtired. If you were dealing with a crisis or a difficulty before the shut downs, you are now dealing with all of that AND that crisis. Now, more than ever, we need our communities. Now, more than ever, it is important to reach out to our friends and family members. If you are struggling and do not know who to reach out to, reach out to me, and I will do my best to help, even if that just means listening and chatting for a while. I am not a licensed therapist, counselor, or psychologist, but I can point you in the direction of services for people in need. If you are having thoughts of suicide or self harm, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255. With care, Ashley Gee, L.Ac. ACUPUNCTURE NEWS:
